Indie Toy Community Glossary
Platinum cured silicone: The body-safest soft sex toy material (as of 2026). It's able to be sanitized completely by boiling or bleaching (but don't boil bleach, you'll release deadly chlorine gas.).
TPE: Thermoplastic elastomer. A common sex toy material that is NOT BODY SAFE for internal use because, as it is a porous material, it will harbor bacteria that cannot be truly cleaned away. Also, potentially toxic.
Jelly: Another name for PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride), distinct because of its jello-y semitransparent shiny look. NOT BODY SAFE, a definitively porous and toxic material.
Other Safe Materials: Steel, glass, wood, glazed ceramic, and ABS plastic.Grinders: Toys for the user to dry hump, grind/rub themself against, or vice versa.
Insertables: Toys to insert into the user. See "Dildo".
Penetrables: Toys that the user can penetrate.
Pens: Short for penetrables.
Mini pens: Miniature penetrables. Typically marketed to transmascs.
Packers: Flaccid peens (fantasy, realistic, or penis only in silhouette) to "pack" the fronts of pants with. Also marketed to transmascs.Drops: Batches of toys, "dropped" by shops. One of a kind stock. If a pour is popular, it'll likely come back around.
Pour: Style of color/pattern that a group of toys share. Name stems from the fact that silicone is poured into molds.
Shore Scale: The universal measurement scale for silicone firmness. Measurements formatted 00-[two digit number] or A[two digit number] - research further if curious.
Flop: A common term for toys that are slightly imperfect but still usable! Most often discounted in shops, look out for them if you're curious and on a budget.UV: Pigments with glow, only visible under blacklight / UV rays.
GITD: Glow in the dark. Charged by sunlight or other sources of UV rays, longer lasting.
